Informative review is a style of writing that informs the audience about an issue by discussing both sides of the argument. The review is the opposite of the scientific narrative where it shouldn’t have any thoughts, opinions, or feelings from the author. The writer uses scientific facts and data to show both sides of their topic. I found this assignment somewhat hard to do because of the fact that there should be no stance or bias. I did my informative review about abortion and the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade, which I have very strong opinions on but couldn’t state them. Arguing the side I personally opposed was a struggle because it was hard finding any “positives” in restricting abortions. However, I believe not having bias is a great way of learning more about the topic because you aren’t trying to be convinced of anything. Instead, the audience is presented with the information and they can make a decision about the topic themselves.
