The audience is the group of people we are writing for and during the semester, we’ve had to think bigger than just our professor and peers. We needed to think as if our writing would be shared with the general public. Who are the people we want to read/see our material? For example, one of the assignments I wrote was about the scientific effects of the overturning of Roe v. Wade. Because I wanted to focus on the scientific effects, my intended audience became less of the women in the US and more of lawmakers and political leaders who can make bigger changes than just the general public. Knowing who you’re writing to allows you to understand what kind of information you should include/exclude and how you should format it.
